A member of the powerful Irving family has acquired an additional 2,200 acres of prime farmland on Prince Edward Island, and many within the agriculture community see a direct challenge to the promise by the Dennis King government to protect the spirit of the Lands Protection Act.

The act limits land ownership to 1,000 acres
