  • MacPolitics: Fillmore Takes Page Out Of Mike Savage’s Cross-Party Political Support

As The Macdonald Notebook reported on Saturday, Halifax mayoral contender Andy Fillmore has attracted support across political party lines.

Fillmore is a Liberal MP, but now is running to become mayor.

His political support base crosses political parties and Top Tories such as Cameron MacKeen, Tyler Cameron & David Henderson are organizing for Fillmore’s mayoral bid.

And, even former NDP MP Peter Stoffer attended the Fillmore kick-off campaign.

Mike Savage, who is not running as mayor, having done three terms was a former Dartmouth Liberal MP who made sure to have Liberal and Tory support for his three convincing mayoral wins at the ballot box.

“I am very happy” with cross-party support says Fillmore, who added prominent Tory Tara Miller, is also supporting his bid.

“She is also providing really good strategic advice.”

Fillmore says he “is extremely happy” to have Tory support while it’s a given many Liberals will support him.

Fillmore says he was a non-partisan MP in Ottawa over the last nine years. “This is how I have always worked across aisles, I have never really been a partisan, I work with anyone and everyone who will get the work done with me.”
