- MacPolitics: Surprise Move, Liberal McNeil’s Skilled PR pointman Joins Tory Premier Tim Houston’s Office
By Andrew Macdonald
In a surprise political move, the pointman for PR in former Liberal Premier Stephen McNeil’s office has just joined the PC Premier of Nova Scotia as PR guru for Tim Houston.
I refer to Stephen Moore, who was effective as chief communicator for McNeil between 2014-2018, and is now chief communicator for Houston.
Moore always made sure I had access to McNeil. He is a pro at communications.
The move shows Tory Houston is not averse to hiring political opponents. In the early spring, Brendan Maguire, a Liberal MLA crossed the floor and joined the Tory cabinet.

“Stephen has proven experience in communications, and I am excited to welcome him to the team,” said Premier Houston. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to improve healthcare and build up Nova Scotia.”
Mr. Moore is currently the executive director of Forest Nova Scotia, a lobby group.
Prior to that, he held positions at Saint Mary’s University and M5’s MQO Research, a polling entity.
Moore’s appointment is effective August 19.
