- HRM Votes: Mother Seeks Councillor Seat; Her Son Runs For Mayor – All In The Family
By Andrew Macdonald
The election in Halifax Regional Municipality is all in the family for a mom and her son.
The Oct 19th, 2024 vote has Lori Ogden running for a regional councillor district, while her son, 23-year-old Nolan Greenough is campaigning to become mayor of HRM.
Ogden is one of two candidates running for councillor in District 6 (Dartmouth East – Burnside).
Her opponent is incumbent councillor, Tony Mancini.
Ogden is “a fairly new resident of the Woodlawn area, I moved into my new home in the summer of 2023,” she says on her website.
“A single mom of 2 adult children, I am currently a blue-collar worker. I, like many in our district, have had my fair share of struggles to keep ahead of the cost of living game, and a roof over our heads over the last 10 years or so. Being in a better position now, with my children grown and on their own, I feel it’s time to step back up and work towards making our community an even better place; standing up for those who don’t have the time or energy to get out there and be heard,” she states.
“I have spent nearly 20 years building connections in the HRM community through previous positions in community relations, and various volunteer positions, and have years of experience in people and business management, including running a successful small business,” adds Ogden.
