- NS Liberals Want To Hire New Executive Director
By Andrew Macdonald
The NS Liberal Party executive director job is open, and party president Margaret Miller is collecting job resumes until Jan 31st, 2025.
The position was long held until 2022 by Mike Mercer, who departed the role during the Liberal cover up of stolen party funds, disclosed that year.
Mercer’s most recent role with the NS Liberals was to serve as campaign director in the Nov 2024 election – overseeing the worst ever Liberal loss in NS history, when the party only elected two MLAs, as Tory Tim Houston steamrolled to a super majority government.

After Mercer departed as party executive director, the role was held by Alxys Chamberlain, but she left and most recently interim party director has been Linda Tweedie.
Tweedie is likely to get the job on a permanent basis, should she want it. She served as Liberal caucus director under the McNeil Liberal government. She is also close to Liberal broker, Kelly Regan, and served as Regan’s executive assistant.
Nonetheless, party president Miller posted a job hiring: “The NSLP is seeking a permanent Executive Director to take on a prime leadership role within the Party,” said Miller.
“This is a position for a highly skilled professional and a proven hands-on motivator of staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will steward the Party effectively as they work with the Board to execute a fundraising plan for the next four years as well as usher in a Leadership race,” added Miller.
“Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience,” said Miller.
