Last weekend, The Notebook reported that Prime Minister Mark Carney was planning ta visit to Yarmouth.
Two sources said Carney would appear at an event welcoming his new Liberal MP into the Carney caucus.
So why did Carney not make it to Yarmouth after all last Monday?
Well, sources now say severe bad weather cancelled the Carney event with his new MP, Chris d’Entremont, who defected two weeks ago from the Conservative Party. D’Entremont is the MP for Acadie-Annapolis, formerly known as West Nova.
Looking back at Monday, the Yarmouth County Regional Emergency Management office issued this severe weather advisory for Southwestern Nova Scotia:
A prolonged period of rain, possibly heavy at times will continue through Tuesday. Total rainfall: 30 to 45 mm, with locally higher amounts possible.
“A slow moving low pressure system will continue to bring significant rainfall to southwest Nova Scotia today and into tomorrow.”
So Carney cancelled his Yarmouth event due to severe bad weather in that region
