MacPolitics: Brian Mulroney On Daughter Caroline Mulroney’s Ford Regime Re-Election & Hosting Tim Houston Fundraiser
By Andrew Macdonald – Published 2022-June 19th.
As for Brian Mulroney’s upcoming two-day trip to Halifax, on Thursday of next week, “I am also going to do a fundraiser for Tim Houston. It is private.”
Houston is Tory premier of NS. “He certainly has a high approval rating – the highest (polling) of any premier in Canada – so that is pretty good, if you can do that, you are doing OK.”
Mulroney references a recent Angus Reid opinion poll on Houston’s top polling performance among premiers in the nation.
In other political news, Mulroney’s daughter Caroline was “re-elected with a huge majority as part of the recent re-election of the Tory Doug Ford administration.

Now MP for NS South Shore, Rick Perkins was a Mulroney regime political aide between 1984-1992 in Ottawa, also shown are Antigonish-Dartmouth Top Tory, Jermome MacPherson and Caroline Mulroney in this 2019 file photo at that year’s NS Tory AGM. (The Notebook).
She is the Transportation minister of the Ontario government and also the minister of Francophone Affairs.
On Friday night past, Mulroney gave a major speech toasting the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty, The Queen’s ascension to the throne, in Toronto.

Re-elected Ontario premier Doug Ford attended. “I had dinner with the premier (Friday). He was at my event, as was Caroline and the family,” says Mulroney.
“I think Ford did pretty well (in the recent election). He is a very fine chap to deal with. I wish him well.”

I asked Mulroney if his daughter, Caroline as a second-generation politico would in the future gun to become a Tory prime minister, following in his own steps.
“Well, you know, who knows what the future holds for us all. But, she is very happy with a senior role in the (Ontario) cabinet as minister of Transportation & she also holds a second ministry, the Ministry of Francophone Affairs. She looks after the Francophone minority very well too. They won a number of Francophone seats previously held by the NDP and the Liberals”, says Mulroney.

The other year I captured this photo of second-generation politico Caroline Mulroney in a past speech to the NS PC annual convention in 2019. She is now a cabinet minister with the Ontario Doug Ford regime. Jerome MacPherson, right, was a loyal Tory supporter of the Mulroney regime. He resides in Antigonish-Dartmouth. Top Antigonish Tory organizer, Pat Thompson, is also in the photo, left. (The Notebook)
“I think her efforts are appreciated by (Premier Ford)”, adds Mulroney.
Editor’s Note: In 2019, Caroline Mulroney was the keynote speaker that year at the AGM of the NS Progressive Conservative Party of NS.

Brian Mulroney was PM, when this photo with his daughter was taken. Caroline Mulroney is now a cabinet minister in the Ontario Doug Ford government. The photo is on display at the STFX Mulroney Hall policy school.
Also that year, I asked Caroline Mulroney if her CTV personality brother Ben Mulroney had any political aspirations, himself, click here to read this Notebook story.
