MacPolitics: Will Premier Tim Houston Call Snap Election? The Political Chattering Class Suggests A Date

The next election is scheduled for 2025, but increasingly there is political chatter that Premier Tim Houston will call an election in August for a Sept. 17 vote.

That date would mark the three-year term since Houston won a surprise 2021 election.

Recently, the Provincial Conservative premier did not rule out a snap election.

Houston’s political hero, John Buchanan, called snap elections three years into his government, and won in 1981 and again in 1984.

With a flurry of Tory nominated contenders and almost daily government funding announcements, the signs point to an early election call.
